Meet The Film Makers

The Blussh Romance Festival is thrilled to welcome some of the most talented filmmakers in the industry. Joining us are Adrian Powers, Caera Bradshaw, and Louise Alston, who will be sharing their insights and experiences with festivalgoers.

After the screenings of their films, they will be hosting exclusive Q&A sessions, giving you the opportunity to dive deeper into their creative process, storytelling inspirations, and behind-the-scenes moments. Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker or a romance film enthusiast, this is your chance to engage with the minds behind the magic.

Adrian Powers 

Adrian Powers is an Australian filmmaker whose work has been seen across the globe, including at the Austin, Cannes and Venice Film Festivals.

Described by filmmaker Ridley Scott as a “talent for the industry to watch”, Adrian has edited thirteen feature films and co-wrote four episodes of the Netflix series, ‘Dive Club’, which was nominated for Logie and AACTA Awards.

Adrian’s short film ‘Brolga’ was successful at festivals around the world, garnering multiple ‘Best Director’ awards and inclusion into the Australian National Film and Sound Archive. In 2023, Adrian directed the popular rom-com ‘A Royal in Paradise’ and the international Netflix hit ‘Love Is in the Air’ (starring Delta Goodrem), which premiered at #1 globally on its opening day, and was the most popular Australian film on Netflix that year.

His latest film is the hit sequel ‘A Royal Proposal: A Royal in Paradise II’.

Caera Bradshaw

Caera Bradshaw is an Australian film and television writer with over a decade of experience in the Australian film industry.

She co-wrote four episodes of the Logie and AACTA Award nominated Netflix original series, ‘Dive Club’, and the feature screenplay ‘Skylab Stan’ (which advanced to the quarterfinals of Screencraft’s annual drama screenplay competition in 2020).

In 2023, Caera co-wrote the film ‘A Royal in Paradise’ (which received a warm reception worldwide, including a theatrical release in Australia), and the international Netflix hit ‘Love is in the Air’ (starring Delta Goodrem), which premiered at number 1 globally on its opening day, scoring almost twelve million views in its first week.

Louise Alston

Louise Alston has directed ten feature films, the most recent being an adaptation of New York Times bestselling romance novel Lick for Passionflix. Previously, she directed Resisting Roots and The Will for the same company.

Also in 2024, Indie thriller, In Her Likeness released on Peacock and Tubi for Nicely. Lifetime thriller My Husband’s Seven Wives was released in 2023.  In the same year, romcoms Three Dates to Forever and The Wedding in the Hamptons released on Peacock and Amazon for Reel One. Disney Original film Back of the Net released in 2019.

Louise’s second feature Jucy screened at Toronto International Film Festival among other festivals and this film and her breakout first feature, All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane have gone on to streamer success.

A graduate of the University of New South Wales, Australian national film school (AFTRS) and the UCLA professional program in screenwriting, Louise has a doctorate in creative arts from the University of Technology Sydney where she researched feminist neo noir film.
