Submissions for the shorts and features opened Wednesday 1 May 2024, and will be received through FilmFreeway.

New and established film makers are encouraged to submit their work, however both the short and feature films must be of the romantic genre. It can include reference to any sub genres or tropes. The romance genre primarily focuses on the relationship and romantic love between two people, typically with an emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending. Blussh welcomes all of loves narratives.
The brand-new festival hit the Brisbane scene in February 2024 and brought together romantics from all genres, sub genres and formats. Blussh is a celebration of romance, love and connection through film screenings and author events. It brings together romance culture consumers, filmmakers, writers, and readers.
In the inaugural year, Blussh a small program of tried-and-true festival practices. Opening Night film and event in 2024 was a sell out with USA best-selling authors, award winning film directors, talent and crew in attendance. Representatives from the literary and screen state and national bodies were also in attendance.
In 2025, the festival is thickening up the program with new events and introducing a short film program and opening up to feature film submissions.

Fancy a Quickie?
Blussh Quickies is our version of a short film program. Within Blussh Romance Festival, Blussh Quickies, provides a platform for independent filmmakers from around Australia and the world to create some romantic short film magic.
Blussh Quickies aims to attract filmmakers, industry professionals, film enthusiasts, and audiences interested in exploring storytelling in a condensed format. In the spirit of Flickerfest, Tropfest and Gold Coast Shorts in Paradise, we know the short new film program addition will be warmly embraced.
Finalist films will be screened as part of the Blussh Romance Festival program, including a special post screening awards announcement with the esteemed panel of judges selecting the Best Film, Best Screenplay and People’s Choice.
Feature Film
Blussh Romance Festival accepts Australian and International feature films over 70 minutes in length, including credits.
